Richard T. Herman
As an advisor to nationwide think tanks, chambers of commerce, governments and foundations, Mr. Herman conducts research, implements advocacy and outreach initiatives to promote greater understanding of the importance that internationals play in local economic development, and the need for communities to be welcoming destinations for immigrant entrepreneurs, international technology talent, and foreign direct investment. He collaborates with NYC Mayor Bloomberg's Partnership for a New American Economy (a coalition of 450 CEOs and Mayors nationwide advocating for immigration reform based on economic principles).
Richard has appeared on FOX News (The O’Reilly Factor), National Public Radio, affiliates of NBC, CBS, and ABC, and has been interviewed by numerous television and radio stations around the U.S. He has appeared in USA Today, InformationWeek, PC World, Computerworld, CIO, Journal of Corporate Recruiting, National Lawyers Weekly, Richard Florida and the Creative Class Exchange, Site Selection, Super Lawyers, and many newspapers and magazines around the U.S. Richard is a graduate of Case Western Reserve University School of Law, speaks Russian, and is a former resident of Moscow, Russia where he practiced law for nearly two years.
Praise for Immigrant, Inc.:
“Immigrant, Inc. is a much-needed book on the positive economic contributions of immigrants to the U.S. economy. All-too-often immigration nay-sayers focus on the alleged costs of immigration without any acknowledgement of the substantial economic contributions of immigrant entrepreneurs. Richard Herman skillfully balances the cost-benefit analysis with this timely inquiry.”
- Kevin R. Johnson, Author, Dean and Professor of Chicana/o Studies,
University of California at Davis, School of Law
“We’ve all heard of the entrepreneurial power of modern-day immigrants to America. But this book goes further. It shows how newcomers to our shores, setting up their own firms, excelling in cutting-edge technologies, employing and working with native Americans, are essential to the United States’ economic well-being, indeed its very future in a fiercely competitive 21st century world.”
- Neal Peirce, Columnist for Washington Post, nationally syndicated writer,
Chairman of Citistates Group
